Benno Flury appointed new Chief Investment Officer of Nationale Suisse

The Board of Directors has appointed Benno Flury, at present with Swiss Re, to be his successor. He will be taking up his post with Nationale Suisse on 1 April 2009. Benno Flury (46) has made a name for himself as a specialist in insurance and pension fund investments. After gaining his lic.rer.pol. degree at the University of Fribourg (specialising in economic and financial policy) in 1988, he joined Swiss Re and spent nearly 20 years working for them in a variety of investment-related capacities. He joined the Management Board of Swiss Re Asset Management AG in 1995 and was appointed Head of Asset Management for Swiss Re's pension fund in 2000, being also put in charge of client mandates. From 2005 to 2008, he was a Managing Director and Head of Fixed Income with responsibility for Swiss Re's European and Asian bond portfolio. He also, in 1997, gained his Federal Diploma as a financial analyst and asset manager (AZEK/CEFA). Having formerly spent eight years being responsible for National Suisse's real estate business in Switzerland, Rodolfo Lindner was appointed to the newly-created post of CIO with effect from 1 January 2005. Under his leadership, the Investment division was completely revamped and given a new direction. Together with greater concentration on asset and liability management, the investment processes were modernised and brought in line with professional standards, while a new investment strategy was also adopted. The directors and management wish to thank Rodolfo Lindner for his successful efforts over many years, first in the investment field and then, from 2005 onwards, as CIO.
